Yeonwoo later witnesses the Dongmak High kids bullying Hobin and Bomi.[5] He demands they apologize, and they leave to avoid backlash from his fans. They later come to Yeonwoo while he is walking alone at night. Hobin and Jihyeok leave to get Yeonwoo medicine, and Taehun takes the opportunity to attack Yeonwoo. Yeonwoo asks if it is because they practice martial arts from different countries, but Taehun says he just reminds him of someone.[6]During their fight, Yeonwoo smashes a hole in the wall and Taehun admits defeat.

Yeonwoo returns to his studies when his father comes into the room, asking why he is taking a long time on a problem. Yeonwoo’s stream is a way for his father to monitor him while he studies. He used to have a camera installed in his room before, and his father warns Yeonwoo what will happen if he slacks off. Yeonwoo is walking home from school with his friends later when Taehun appears and challenges him to a fight. He beats up his friends so Yeonwoo is forced to defend them.[7] During the fight, Taehun taunts Yeonwoo and angers him. However, Yeonwoo soon realizes what Taehun is trying to accomplish.

Yeonwoo was stuck on the same repetitive pattern of having his life monitored by his father and keeping up with his study-obsessed persona, until he had his views challenged by Seong Taehoon, who kept provoking him and questioning the control he had over his life.[8] For once, Yeonwoo decided to fight back instead of letting let himself get hit. He puts up a good fight but eventually loses to Taehoon who is more experienced.[9]After this eye-opening experience, he decides to quit NewTube and tells his father that he wants to stop studying and just be a normal person, despite his expected disapproval. Yeonwoo clarifies to his fans that Hobin and Taehun didn't do anything wrong to avoid their backlash.[10]

Yeonwoo is later seen visiting his father at the hospital, after the brutal attack.[11]He learns later that Seongjun was behind the attack. He proposes going to the police but his father refuses, saying that he doesn't want to ruin the family name by exposing his crimes.[12] After the attempts to bury Hobin's callout video of Seongjun, Yeonwoo decides to share the details of the attack anyway.[13]Seongjun attacks the Hobin Yoo company in his rage, and Yeonwoo rushes in to find the man sitting near the unconscious Mangi. Seongjun blames Yeonwoo for exposing him when he could have let this slide. He punches Yeonwoo but does little to no damage. Yeonwoo reels back for a punch but Seongjun tosses the beer in his face, blinding him. Then he flips Yeonwoo and throws him at the table edge, which hits his spine. Seongjun takes a wine opener and is about to stab Yeonwoo when he notices Jihyeok recording from his phone and lets him go.[14]Yeonwoo is hospitalized for his injuries.[15]

Yeonwoo later accompanies Taehun to protect Bomi when they learn she is in danger.[16] Yeonwoo takes Bomi to safety and returns to find Taehun unharmed by their attackers. Yeonwoo decides to help Hobin call out 244.[17]Taehoon introduces Yeonwoo to his father to be trained. Yeonwoo isn't sure about being trained by a taekwondo teacher, which triggers Taehoon's father. He hits Yeonwoo with a powerful strike, and is revealed to be a 9th dan. He charges Yeonwoo double for his lessons.[18]While training under Hansu, Yeonwoo runs off on his own to do personal training. He is seen running in the woods barefoot and bloodied, but excited from the excercise.[19]

On the night of the overseas branch arrival, Yeonwoo accompanies Hobin's company to call out 244. Yeonwoo ends up fighting Mr. Dreg, who looks down on him for his weak appearance. Yeonwoo is worried that he might lose to Mr. Dreg, since he is too strong. However, Mr. Dreg is also worried because Yeonwoo gets back up every time he is knocked down. He asks why Yeonwoo is so motivated to win, and Yeonwoo tells him that getting up after defeat is simply Kyoukushin.[20]Yeonwoo tells Mr. Dreg that his opponent is not a god, and that fear is what is holding him back. Yeonwoo knocks him down and thanks Mr. Dreg for teaching him with this fight.[21]
