Ep28

Samdak yelling at his daughter

Samdak is first seen eating with his daughter. Gaeul asks her dad for 20M won and he asks if he should give her the house deposit. When she agrees he throws things at her and says she is ungrateful, and to sell her stuff if she needs it that badly.[1] He is later seen hiking with Gaeul as she yells about Hobin Yoo.[2]

When Gaeul is heartbroken at home, her father yells at her for moping around. Logan Gracie arrives shortly afterwards to say he has something on his mind.[3] Samdak invites him inside and compliments him on his improved Korean. While sitting at the table, Logan notices Samdak eats very little compared to his daughter, and he remarks that he has lost weight. Then he mentions that he stopped by because he was reminded of the past.[4]

Ep34

Samdak hiking with Gaeul as she rants

Samdak later sees Hobin on top of his daughter and grabs a stick to beat him. Once Hobin runs out of the house, he gives Gaeul a razor and asks if she wants to shave her head out of shame or let him do it. Gaeul tells him that Hobin doesn't really like her, and he misunderstood the situation. Samdak lets her go out of pity.[5]

Ep106 hair

Telling Gaeul to shave her hair off

Later when Munseong's gym mates are harassing Gaeul, Samdak runs out in slippers and beats them all up. Hobin Yoo sees this and tells Samdak that he's a fan of his Newtube videos, and he's been looking for him for a long time.[6] He begs Samdak to show him how to fight for real, but he flat out refuses. Hobin apologizes for being inappropriate with Gaeul, but her father says it isn't about that. Instead, he is determined not to make the same mistake.[7]When Gaeul opens the door on 244's men, Samdak appears behind her and asks why the men are grinning at his daughter.[8]Samdak tells the men that they have the look of people who have murdered before. He knocks their weapons out of their hands with a closed umbrella and beats them away. The man who killed Seongjun appears behind him with a gun, and Samdak tells him that he seems like he has something on his mind.[9] The assassin leaves after seeing the look on Samdak's face.

Hobin goes to Samdak's home to make sure she is okay. Her father slaps him and asks what he is getting himself into. Hobin cries and says that he is quitting the company, and he apologizes for putting everyone in danger. [10]Hobin later goes to Gaeul's house to meet with her father. He tells him that Gaeul is in danger, and he needs help from his former master.[11] Samdak tells Hobin that he knows exactly what is happening, because Gaeul told him. He still refuses to help however. When he was younger, one of his former students died. The kid was around Hobin's age. Samdak tells Hobin that what he teaches isn't fighting, but something to make others mourn, so Hobin should just return home.[12]

Ep118

Samdak defending Hobin and Hye-yeon

Gaeul is leaving with a bunch of snacks when her father asks if she's sneaking off to see Hobin. Gaeul asks him why he's being so defensive about her, and if it has to do with that incident from his past. He is taken aback. She tells him that she doesn't care what happened, but it is a lot more irresponsible to not do anything about it. Samdak later finds Hobin being attacked by 244's men with a syringe, and he grabs the syringe with his wallet. He defeats all the men and tells Hobin that he took some time to think about his offer. After watching his videos, he decided to turn Hobin into a human weapon.[13]

It is 85 days until the drug boat is to land in Korea, and Samdak is training Hobin. Samdak tells Hobin that his moves weren't meant for his physique, and that it is amazing he made it this far with the videos. Hobin wonders why they are training in the middle of a park of all places. A passerby thanks Samdak for teaching her some breathing techniques, and there is a sign in the park offering martial art lessons from a man who has travelled 100 countries. Samdak asks Hobin to punch him, but Hobin is blown back by his strength. He tells him to repeat 100 times.[14] When Samdak tells Hobin his training is finally over, Hobin doesn't believe it. He chucks his phone aside and Hobin catches it perfectly. Samdak tells Hobin that with a body like that, he won't be losing to anyone ever again.[15]

Samdak appears before Nameless and the Soo trio as they are trying to help Hobin film the event.[16]Nameless tells Samdak that he's heard much about him from his days as an army operative. He was one of the few men with a liscence to kill, and people used to talk about him. Samdak tells the man he can't understand what he's saying, since his English is rusty. The man pulls a gun on him and Samdak asks if he would like to see the final episode from his playlist: How to Win Against a Gun.

Nameless shoots and Samdak grabs his arm to redirect the bullet. He manages to wrest the gun away from him before ripping a piece off. Samdak recognizes the nameless man as a former member of his squad in the army. The nameless man rushes at him with a curved knife, but Samdak flips him over and he lands on his head. He tells him that winning against knives and guns is bullshit, and only the strongest wins in the end.[17]
