Synopsis[]

Detective Jinseok Kang knew Jinho from a young age having worked on the case of his dead family. The detective suspected that Jinho murdered his parents as a child since he had a sudden shift of behavior before the day of their demise. Lacking the evidence, he decided to monitor Jinho into adulthood alongside his subordinate Detective Choi.

Detective Kang first runs into Jinho while he is waiting at the bus stop. Detective Kang congratulates Jinho on working hard, and tells him to not be a stranger. He later stalks Jinho to his new job and monitors him there. His subordinate Detective Choi asks why he is waiting there and the detective explains that he wants to observe Jinho. Not because he is worried for him, but because he believes Jinho is a dangerous psychopath. He shows his junior files from Jinho's past from doctors, clinics and psychologists that confirm it. [1] Shortly afterwards the detective bursts in to find Jinho folding sheets like a normal motel worker. He tells Jinho they got an anyonymous call about a disturbance, but everything seems to be fine.[2]

Detective Kang comes to Jinho’s house after hearing that his girlfriend is dead. Jinho is covered with blood and wounds from self harm. Detective Choi is sympathetic to Jinho but Detective Kang believes he is somehow behind the murder, since Jinho is a psychopath.[3] Later on he learns that Jinho is now the No.2 of New International Branch. However he can't prosecute Jinho since Commisioner General Juncheol Yang is in the pocket of the mob boss. He decides to deal with Jinho himself.

Jinho returns home to find Jinseok waiting for him. Jinseok asks why Jinho killed his parents who only wanted to fix their son. Jinho cries tears and [4]explains that his parents were troublesome, and he tried to explain this to them with no effect. In the end, he set the house on fire to be free of them. Jinho then mocks the detective for believing this story, and says he would never kill his family. The detective warns Jinho to not be so full of himself and leaves, swearing that he will catch Jinho even if it kills him.

Jinseok calls Changhun to accompany him on his latest mission to investigate a warehouse that smells like drugs. His subordinate begins speeding, and Jinseok asks him why he is going so fast. Changhun reveals that he was offered 1 billion won to kill Jinseok. Changhun slams the brakes and leaps out of the car, and Jinseok is thrown onto concrete, killed by the impact.[5]

Trivia[]

  • His name was changed from Dongseok to Jinseok, probably due to similarities with Dongseok Oh.
